The radio is something that I listen to DAILY. It is the story of my life, it explains how I feel at every moment in my life. There are so many songs that I listen to that remind me of memories. So many songs that I know exactly where I was when I heard it for the first time, or where I was in my life. The radio tells a story, the songs have emotions, they connect to the heart in so many ways.
Before that night I could listen to the radio without a fear in the world. I didn't care what song played. I listened to everything and every channel without hesitation. In a store it didn't bother me what music was playing and how loud it was turned up. Then that night happened...
Now I listen to the radio in fear, fear of what the next song will be, will it strike a new memory, will the tears start to flow? It's scary and I hate it. When I go into a store I fear for the opening beat of the songs I dread the most. What am I going to do when they start playing? How am I going to react? Do I stay; do I leave; do I cry? I don't have at the answer.
Then it happened, in the car...
It came on, the song that I still can't listen to. The one whenever I hear all I hear over it is gunshots and screams. I started to cry and turned it off as fast as I could. I rode the rest of the way in silence, with tears running down my face and scary memories in my head...
