I never really thought about it, but today I did. I went into my summer dresses to pick out something to wear, I pulled out a never been worn romper that I bought last September. I remember buying it thinking that I could wear it to one of the nights of Route 91. On that Sunday morning, I went back and forth between the new purple and gray dress, and the romper. Ultimately, I picked the dress with my silver sandals and brown crossover purse. I set the romper back in my closet until today.
I remember running in those shoes, my toes popped out of their original places and the sandals flapping every time I took a step. I remember thinking "God Damn Shoes! Why did I ever wear these?" But why would I have thought twice about them? Who would have thought I would ever have done that much running? I also remember running through the hospital on October 22, hoping that I would make it to my Grandma before she took her last breath, only this time I was wearing the black pair, exactly like the silver. Again, not good running shoes.
I remember that purse getting stuck in the wires, and pulling and pulling so that I could run as fast as I could, hoping that the raining bullets wouldn't start again before I was out if the venue.
I remember leaving the clothes in a pile on the closet floor not knowing what to do with them, or if I could ever wear them again.
I remember texting my Mom, Tuesday morning when I got to work asking her to take everything I had on that night and taking it away from me, so I never had to see it again. The dress, the sandals, the purse. I really never thought about them again until today, when I saw the romper.
